YOU SHOULDN’T CATCH A FISH, IT SHOULD FALL INTO THE NET

"My name is D.S.R.Sharma. Actually my full name is Daruguntla Naga Veera Sesha Rajyavardhana Sharma, hence my father found it too difficult in writing my name in my school application forms whenever I have transferred from one to another. So he made it short. D.S.R.Sharma."

I started my introduction like that as an answer to the question "Tell me about Your Self?"

I am in a campus interview in our college. I prepared that introduction to impress the interviewer and I am strongly determined to grab that job. Because, the reason is simple.

From the ages, humans are referring food, cloth and shelter as basic needs to survive from the nature. Situation has been changed, hence the statement.

Job after your graduation, a car after a 3 years, a home after 6 years are needed for a person to survive in this world and from the hurls of the flock around us. Without these, you are not considered as a human.

Turning back to my interview, she gave a reaction just I was expecting. YAHOO….First hit reached the target.

Next, she was asking, "What are your weaknesses?"
I quickly recollected the "Tips and Tricks" to be implemented in interviews
Courtesy: About 64,90,000 results (0.32 seconds)   of Google.

I enacted that I am breaking my head as if I don't have any weaknesses….LOL. And then,
"Aah!!! I think I am a bit lazy mam", I started replying as if I found a pin in a haystack. "But if I started any work, I will see its end." I managed a laugh along with that line.

She gave a bried nod.

I don't want her to ask too many questions. So I continued, "Mam, But I'm trying to overcome that."

She asked curiously, "Hmm. What measured you are taking for that,,,Sharma?"

"Mam, I made myself engaged in several activities in our college. I am the active participant in our college Cultural fests, I am a part of organizing team of our college Tech Fest. Even, I was also involved in our college Sports Meet", boasting about myself at the fullest and as if it is the last chance.

She nodded her head rhythmically to my words and finally said, "Super, super, super".

I was raising from my chair into air, for her every reaction. I'm going to make this.

"What are your parents, sharma?" she shot her question casually. Even for that simple question, I am ready with a riddle like answer.

"My father is a business man mam. My mother, once upon a time a lecturer, now she is a teacher mam."

Again, I received the startled expression from her. Exactly, I need that. Then I started explaining, "My mother worked in a college previously. Now she is in a school. I think you understood now."
From the hobbies column in my resume, she looked at writing stories and inquired about that.
I said with an uneasy smile that I wrote a few stories in Telugu and I tried to publish them in a few magazines but failed. She again nodded her head rhythmically.

She said, "Ok…What is this 'am bigrams' in your resume?"

"Mam, have you seen the movie 'Angles n Demons'?" I waited for her response. She said no.

Later, I placed the paper on the table, and explained her what are those god-damn Am bigrams.

While I'm in the middle, she said, "Ok..It's fine. Are you the only child in your family?"

I realized it with a long delay that her questions are not in order and doesn't match with any pattern I knew.

"No mam, I have a brother, studying X standard."

Quickly, she said, "Well, I've done with my questions. If you have any questions you can ask me."
I think this is my chance to settle down all the irregularities on the surface and to make this smooth finished.

"Mam, Our Company's name is XXXXXXX (Censored)… I want to know the motive behind that."

She looked a bit thoughtful and mumbled, "Good, Right" or some other thing, I couldn't hear. But I'm sure words of that kind.

I said, "I went through the dictionary and found it as a kind of weapon."

She said, "No, No. Actually, it is a biological name of XXXXXX (again censored). But the motive….." Her words stopped and thoughts ran again.
Finally she said, "Even I asked the same question to my seniors in the company. I will get back to you for sure."
She continued, "Any other questions?"
I asked something related to their company's products. She was replying to that. But I'm in no mood of listening to the answer, I was assessing my performance in that interview.

After my analysis, I came to a conclusion that I did decently well, my confidence of my selection to the final round of the process, as a function time, increased exponentially.

After greeting her, I stepped out of the room, took a deep breath. Without any fuzziness I went to our canteen for having the dinner. My friends are waiting over there and they are curious about my interview.

I threw a currency note and told them, "HR is finished and I think she is impressed. Have this as promo for the big bash coming up."

We finished our dinner and ate sumptuously. When we were about to start towards our hostels, my friend called me.

Me : "Bro, what doing? Where are you? You missed a chance of receiving a treat"
He : "And you too!!! Lost the honour of giving it."
Me : I chuckled and said, "Stop your riddles and be straight…"
He : "Shortlist for the final round came. Your name is not there."

HOLE IN THE HISTORY, RELIVING IN FUTURE

      <><><><><><><><><>><><><><><><>

Sun is rising in the east as usual with no surprise. But to the Guruji’s (Master) surprise, his Sishya ( Disciple/Student) came at the right time to the class.

Both were sitting infront of Guru’s house.

He started the lesson of the day.

Guru :

Today I’ll tell you a story, Long long ago…

St. Teresa of Avila, one of the great philosophers and doctors of

the Roman Catholic Church died on October 4, 1582. He was

buried the next day: October 15th!

Sishya : Guruji! I think you haven’t by-hearted the lesson

properly, the next day is 5th October not 15th of October.

Guruji : Sishya, What I told you now and what you listened  is

absolutely right. It is not 5th, it is 15th October of 1582.

(he had a puff of hookah and continued)

And I want to tell you one more fact which is hard to believe.

Before that, let me ask you one thing. Which is the most favorite

day for you in the whole year…

Sishya : Obviously, festivals, especially, Ganesh Chaturthi and

Diwali…Lots of fun and delicious dishes…(seeing into the sky)

haaa….haaa…aahh...

Guruji:  Idiot, come back from that stupid imagination…I am

asking apart from festivals…they are common favorites for

everybody. I am asking any special days for you.

Sishya : The second straight answer without any hesitation would

be my birthday.

Guruji : This is what I expected from you. After several

thousands of years, there will be a situation for sure when many

people can celebrate their birthday on two days in the same year.

Sishya : Why guruji…Sounds so exciting and awesome.,

Guruji : Don’t get so excited…I said it will occur in very far

future.

Sishya : Oh! Ok,  why the first situation has occurred and why

your prophecy will become the truth. Please tell me if you have

any scientific answer.

Then the Guruji, had one more puff of hookah and started saying the following lines…

Earth takes 365.242 days to complete a revolution around

the sun. In history, we had a great man named Julian  who had

designed our first calendar, with the basic human instincts,

neglected that fractional part, and considered it as only 365days.

Later, this costed us seriously…

After several years, again a great man named Pope Gregory

entered into the picture and claimed that the calendar we are

following then is full of flaws because of that small 0.242

approximation. At that time he introduced the concept of LEAP

YEAR, the year which has 366 days. He has considered that

0.242 as 0.25 day by rounding it off in each year and it forms a

day in every four year cycle. (This will be knowing by many of

us).

As Gregorian wanted to make some corrections to the

existing calendar instead of designing a new system, he asked

everybody to add 10 days immediately to the existing calendar

as correction and thus the according to that, the consequent

actions happened.

But note that Gregory's decree only took effect in countries that gave allegiance to him. Many Protestant states didn't go Gregorian until the 1700s, including Britain and her American colonies in September 1752. In these countries, September 2nd, 1752, is followed by September 14th, 1752.

The story will not ends here….
it will resume by Sishya’s question…..

Sishya : Fine, the story in the history justifies up to some extent,

what about those birthday shifts in the future….

Guruji : If you observe clearly, Gregorian made correction

partially but not completely. . This system is relatively accurate,

but .242 is not exactly the .250 of a day that it needs to be for the

leap-day to work perfectly. Over the centuries the .008 of a day

(11 minutes 30 seconds) began to accumulate.

In future, someone would claim in the same way as Gregorian

does. Because the Pope Gregory has rounded off we will be in a

position in future where we have to get back to the passed dates to

apply correction to the Gregorian Calendar also….

                          End of the story.

Additional Info :

Russia never did implement Pope Gregory’s amendments to the calendar. The People's Commissars did in February 1918, but the Red Army had to enforce it as the USSR was formed. And that is why the October Revolution is also known as the November Revolution. According to the tsar Julian's calendar, it was October, but in the rest of the world, and for the Commissars and Soviets, it was November.

These things seems to be so simple, but they might be resulting in

trivial phenomena.

Hence many Indians argue that our Indian calendarical systems

are far superior to those western systems. That is a different

story. For today, one story is enough.

So, clap for the post or condemn it, whatever you feel,

whatever your mind says...Just express it.

A spark in your brain can create a canto in history... :) (:

1. SWAMI VIVEKANANDA : LIFE AND TEACHINGS

Swami Vivekananda was born in an affluent family in Kolkata on 12 January 1863. His father,Vishwanath Datta, and his mother, Bhuvaneshwari Devi, was endowed with deep devotion.
A precocious boy, Narendra excelled in music, gymnastics and studies. By the time he graduated from Calcutta University, he had acquired a vast knowledge of different subjects, especially Western philosophy and history. Born with a yogic temperament, he used to practise meditation even from his boyhood, and was associated with Brahmo Movement for some time. With Sri Ramakrishna
At the threshold of youth Narendra had to pass through a period of spiritual crisis when he was assailed by doubts about the existence of God. Narendra's first introduction to Ramakrishna occurred in a literature class when he heard Professor William Hastie lecturing on William Wordsworth's poem, The Excursion. While explaining the word "trance" in the poem, Hastie suggested that his students visit Ramakrishna of Dakshineswar to understand the true meaning of trance. Narendra did not consider this their first meeting, and neither man mentioned this meeting later.

One day in November 1881, Narendra went to meet Sri Ramakrishna who was staying at the Kali Temple in Dakshineshwar. He straightaway asked the Master a question which he had put to several others but had received no satisfactory answer:
 “Sir, have you seen God?”
Without a moment’s hesitation, Sri Ramakrishna replied: “Yes, I have. I see Him as clearly as I see you, only in a much intenser sense.”
Apart from removing doubts from the mind of Narendra, Sri Ramakrishna won him over through his pure, unselfish love.
Thus began a guru-disciple relationship which is quite unique in the history of spiritual masters.

Difficult Situations
After a few years two events took place which caused Narendra considerable distress. One was the sudden death of his father in 1884. This left the family penniless, and Narendra had to bear the burden of supporting his mother, brothers and sisters.
The second event was the illness of Sri Ramakrishna which was diagnosed to be cancer of the throat. In September 1885 Sri Ramakrishna was moved to a house at Shyampukur, and a few months later to a rented villa at Cossipore.
After the Master’s passing, fifteen of his young disciples (one more joined them later) began to live together in a dilapidated building at Baranagar in North Kolkata. Under the leadership of Narendra, they formed a new monastic brotherhood, and in 1887 they took the formal vows of sannyasa, thereby assuming new names. Narendra now became Swami Vivekananda (although this name was actually assumed much later.)Awareness of Life’s Mission
After establishing the new monastic order, Vivekananda heard the inner call for a greater mission in his life.
As the prophet of the present age, what was Sri Ramakrishna’s message to the modern world and to India in particular?
This question and the awareness of his own inherent powers urged Swamiji to go out alone into the wide world. So in the middle of 1890, after receiving the blessings of Sri Sarada Devi, the divine consort of Sri Ramakrishna, Swamiji left Baranagar Math and embarked on a long journey of exploration and discovery of India.

Discovery of Real India

During his travels all over India, Swami Vivekananda was deeply moved to see the appalling poverty and backwardness of the masses. He was the first religious leader in India to understand and openly declare that the real cause of India’s downfall was the neglect of the masses.

The immediate need was to provide food and other bare necessities of life to the hungry millions. For this they should be taught improved methods of agriculture, village industries, etc.
owing to centuries of oppression, the downtrodden masses had lost faith in their capacity to improve their lot. It was first of all necessary to infuse into their minds faith in themselves.
Thus the masses needed two kinds of knowledge: secular knowledge to improve their economic condition, and spiritual knowledge to infuse in them faith in themselves and strengthen their moral sense. The next question was, how to spread these two kinds of knowledge among the masses? Through education – this was the answer that Swamiji found.

Decision to attend the Parliament of Religions
It was when these ideas were taking shape in his mind in the course of his wanderings that Swami Vivekananda heard about the World’s Parliament of Religions to be held in Chicago in 1893. His friends and admirers in India wanted him to attend the Parliament. He too felt that the Parliament would provide the right forum to present his Master’s message to the world, and so he decided to go to America. Another reason which prompted Swamiji to go to America was to seek financial help for his project of uplifting the masses.
Swamiji, however, wanted to have an inner certitude and divine call regarding his mission. Both of these he got while he sat in deep meditation on the rock-island at Kanyakumari.
Swami Vivekananda left for America from Mumbai on 31 May 1893.

The Parliament of Religions and After

His speeches at the World’s Parliament of Religions held in September 1893 made him famous as an ‘orator by divine right’ and as a ‘Messenger of Indian wisdom to the Western world’. After the Parliament, Swamiji spent nearly three and a half years spreading Vedanta as lived and taught by Sri Ramakrishna, mostly in the eastern parts of USA and also in London.

Awakening His Countrymen
He returned to India in January 1897. In response to the enthusiastic welcome that he received everywhere, he delivered a series of lectures in different parts of India, which created a great stir all over the country.

Founding of Ramakrishna Mission As he said later on, he wanted “to set in motion a machinery which will bring noblest ideas to the doorstep of even the poorest and the meanest.” Soon after his return to Kolkata, Swami Vivekananda accomplished another important task of his mission on earth. He founded on1 May 1897 a unique type of organization known as Ramakrishna Mission, in which monks and lay people would jointly undertake propagation of Practical Vedanta, and various forms of social service, such as running hospitals, schools, colleges, hostels, rural development centres etc, and conducting massive relief and rehabilitation work for victims of earthquakes, cyclones and other calamities, in different parts of India and other countries.
Last Days
In June 1899 he went to the West on a second visit. This time he spent most of his time in the West coast of USA. After delivering many lectures there, he returned to Belur Math in December 1900. The rest of his life was spent in India, inspiring and guiding people, both monastic and lay. Incessant work, especially giving lectures and inspiring people, told upon Swamiji’s health. His health deteriorated and the end came quietly on the night of 4 July 1902. Before his Mahasamadhi he had written to a Western follower:
“It may be that I shall find it good to get outside my body, to cast it off like a worn out garment. But I shall not cease to work. I shall inspire men everywhere until the whole world shall know that it is one with God.”

MESSAGE AND TEACHINGS OF SWAMIJI

Swamiji’s Contributions to
India

In spite of her innumerable linguistic, ethnic, historical and regional diversities, India has had from time immemorial a strong sense of cultural unity. It was, however, Swami Vivekananda who revealed the true foundations of this culture and thus clearly defined and strengthened the sense of unity as a nation.Sense of unity, pride in the past, sense of mission – these were the factors which gave real strength and purpose to India’s nationalist movement.

Several eminent leaders of India’s freedom movement have acknowledged their indebtedness to Swamiji. Free India’s first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru wrote:
“Rooted in the past, full of pride in India’s prestige, Vivekananda was yet modern in his approach to life’s problems, and was a kind of bridge between the past of India and her present … he came as a tonic to the depressed and demoralized Hindu mind and gave it self-reliance and some roots in the past.”

Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose wrote: “Swamiji harmonized the East and the West, religion and science, past and present. And that is why he is great. Our countrymen have gained unprecedented self-respect, self-reliance and self-assertion from his teachings.”

Selected
Teachings of Swami Vivekananda:

My ideal, indeed, can be put into a few words, and that is: to preach unto mankind their divinity, and how to make it manifest in every movement of life.

Education is the manifestation of the perfection already in man.
Religion is the manifestation of the Divinity already in man.

We want that education by which character is formed, strength of mind is increased, the intellect is expanded, and by which one can stand on one's own feet.

Whatever you think, that you will be. If you think yourselves weak, weak you will be; if you think yourselves strong, strong you will be.

Strength, strength it is that we want so much in this life, for what we call sin and sorrow have all one cause, and that is our weakness. With weakness comes ignorance, and with ignorance comes misery.

The older I grow, the more everything seems to me to lie in manliness. This is my new Gospel.

They alone live who live for others, the rest are more dead than alive.

WHY WE DISAGREE

15th September, 1893

I will tell you a little story. You have heard the eloquent speaker who has just finished say, "Let us cease from abusing each other," and he was very sorry that there should be always so much variance.

But I think I should tell you a story which would illustrate the cause of this variance. A frog lived in a well. It had lived there for a long time. It was born there and brought up there, and yet was a little, small frog. Of course the evolutionists were not there then to tell us whether the frog lost its eyes or not, but, for our story's sake, we must take it for granted that it had its eyes, and that it every day cleansed the water of all the worms and bacilli that lived in it with an energy that would do credit to our modern bacteriologists. In this way it went on and became a little sleek and fat. Well, one day another frog that lived in the sea came and fell into the well.

"Where are you from?"

"I am from the sea."

"The sea! How big is that? Is it as big as my well?" and he took a leap from one side of the well to the other.

"My friend," said the frog of the sea, "how do you compare the sea with your little well?”

Then the frog took another leap and asked, "Is your sea so big?"

"What nonsense you speak, to compare the sea with your well!"

"Well, then," said the frog of the well, "nothing can be bigger than my well; there can be nothing bigger than this; this fellow is a liar, so turn him out."

That has been the difficulty all the while.

I am a Hindu. I am sitting in my own little well and thinking that the whole world is my little well. The Christian sits in his little well and thinks the whole world is his well. The Mohammedan sits in his little well and thinks that is the whole world. I have to thank you of America for the great attempt you are making to break down the barriers of this little world of ours, and hope that, in the future, the Lord will help you to accomplish your purpose.

<><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>

Science is nothing but the finding of unity. As soon as science would reach perfect unity, it would stop from further progress, because it would reach the goal. Thus Chemistry could not progress farther when it would discover one element out of which all other could be made. Physics would stop when it would be able to fulfill its services in discovering one energy of which all others are but manifestations, and the science of religion become perfect when it would discover Him who is the one life in a universe of death, Him who is the constant basis of an ever-changing world. One who is the only Soul of which all souls are but delusive manifestations. Thus is it, through multiplicity and duality, that the ultimate unity is reached. Religion can go no farther. This is the goal of all science.

Descend we now from the aspirations of philosophy to the religion of the ignorant. At the very outset, I may tell you that there is nopolytheism in India. In every temple, if one stands by and listens, one will find the worshippers applying all the attributes of God, including omnipresence, to the images. It is not polytheism, nor would the name henotheism explain the situation. "The rose called by any other name would smell as sweet." Names are not explanations.

TELL ME FOR GOD'S SAKE, IS THIS RIGHT!!!!!

        <><><><><><><><><>><><><><><><>

Time: 11:40 pm
Stars are shining and are trying to dominate the moon’s glory. They failed because they forgot that it is the last night of first fortnight of the month.
In a four-storeyed building, he is in the top floor, holding his mobile phone in his hands firmly and not in a mood to enjoy the cool breeze because of his excitement.
HE is looking eagerly at his mobile phone’s screen. He is waiting anxiously for that four-inch screen to lit brightly, bringing him the message that his dream became the reality.

Time: 11:56 pm
Suddenly, a group of his friends surrounded him. All are panting and one of them said, “Dude!!!Finally, we got you before time…”
HE is confused at the first instant, later he understood the reason behind their ‘search’ for him. He couldn’t utter even a single word due to the present state of mind.
Again, one of the mob said, “Hey guys!! Why to hurry, still four minutes to go” and then turned to the center-staged person, “you carry on with your phone call…we will wait until you finishes.” He smiled wryly.

Time: 00:00
HE is not in a mood to listen to their words…To bring down the curtains to his Wait, the screen lit up with a beep tone, a message from his beloved…wishing him “Happy B’day!!!”
A smile flashed on his face and in a single tone, everybody behind him sang the song version of that message. In a few seconds, the terrace of the building flattered its silence and turned into a party setting. Because he is pre-occupied, he hasn’t observed the arrangements made by his friends in the moonlight.
A table has been placed with a beautifully decorated b’day cake on its top…A candle is put into the cake and a plastic knife is put adjacent to the cake. The whole place looks splendid not only due to the arrangements but also due to the lighting.

AFTER THAT>>>

Everybody wished him on his b’day in different ways.
One treated him “Many more happy returns of the day” and other as “Wish you a very happy b’day”.
A person behind the crowd reached him and expressed his greetings in his mother tongue, which has been forgotten by many of the Indians(especially south).
Amidst the roars, laughs and jokes cracked by the people, he cut the cake and these moments have been captured by many amateur cameramen with their smart phones.

Inspired from movies, the cream of the cake has been spread on the b’day boy’s face and it carries with having a soft drink like coca-cola, a common interest of teenagers and so on….

But, The real story starts here…

In UK, there is a tradition called B’day bumps. It means people who are celebrating b’day will be tossed into the air. Due to several factors like british advent, English education, globalization and many other factors have influenced the mindset of today’s young population of India.
Adaptation or imitation, whatever you call that, I will say it as tendency to do things which are practiced by other people has became the order…sorry, the fashion of the day. To quote an example, western countries ask children to wear shoes, socks because their place is so chill. But why are we still following that in damn hot areas also??? I am ready to take answers from comment box below.

Let’s not deviate from the topic…I want to discuss the forms that these b’day bumps have evolved through and their current status in India now.
Bumps have turned into the butt-breaking or bone-breaking of your back. Even the People I mentioned above, so caring towards their friend, celebrated his b’day, are shoving up their sleeves for kicking him on his back in the name of Birthday Bumps.
The most shocking thing of the whole episode is nobody think why should we give birthday bumps. You might be thinking that it is a silly or unimportant issue on which I’m writing pages and pages.

But just imagine yourself in that position having pains for four to six days and moreover you cannot sit properly in your chair for the next three days.

The issue is not about your body pains or your seating arrangements. This is about inhumanity and psychological damage to which all these people have affected to.
Only just you want to boast that you gave b’day bumps to your friend, but because you cannot do that for several reasons (physical incapability is the major), will you hit him out of his bones….???
You are saying A VERY HAPPY B’DAY!@@!! And in the next moment, you are ready to kick him on his butt…
What’s wrong with those people@@@ I felt indignant when a person shot this whole thing in his mobile and saying, “I’ll send you a copy, keep this as a sweet memory” while he is shouting with agony.
Their Parents should realize that their children are grown-up’s physically but not mentally.
-----------------------------------------------------------

And the subplot here is, you were allowed to attend the calls from your family or relatives for only five minutes….Later you have to receive our so-called gifts/memories/wishes.

-----------------------------------------------------------

Since I have started a story, I have to show it an ending also. As I explained the REAL PARTY AFTER THE CELEBRATION happened to there, He has jumped on to his mobile phone which is on the table safely kept by his friends and After seeing it, he fell on the ground.
He urged a lot to leave when his phone was ringing and they didn’t let him to lift the call thinking that the call is from his girlfriend.
Appallingly, that MISSED CALL is from an MNC for a telephone interview for the job he applied for several weeks ago.

So, these are MY sWORDS on the new Social Evil ( a little exaggeration, I admit), prevailing among the youth of the country,

So, clap for the post or condemn it, whatever you feel, whatever your mind says...Just express it.

A spark in your brain can create a canto in history... :) (:
